Review

I love this series, there are only a few programs that are on TV that I watch consistently, Psych is one of them.  I enjoy smart shows, shows that provide deep insight into the human condition, Psych is obviously not one of those, but it is one of the most addicting shows I have ever had the pleasure to watch.

This episode is no different, it starts out with a flashback of Gus trying to jump a ramp, when he is quickly foiled by his dad.  Then we jump to the present with Shawn and Gus getting tickets to see a daredevil show, Shawn sees “Dutch The Clutch” and notices something wrong with the bike.  Meanwhile, Dutch is riding his bike blindfold down a ramp to jump into a flaming circle (yes, the stunts ARE over the top this episode, and quite funny as well!), amazingly Dutch survives, and Shawn is sure that someone is trying to kill him, and proceeds with trying to get the case.

One of the things that keeps “pushing” Dutch to try harder on his stunts, is his new rival “El Diablo”, a new daredevil who is constantly working the same venues as Dutch.

Another really funny subplot is Detective O’Hara is ordered to find Carlton a date, I really wish they showed more of this, as any O’Hara is good O’Hara, and I love the Carlton stories

This was a real fun episode for me, the scene with Gus riding a motorcycle was worth the price alone, I could not stop laughing.  The banter between Gus and Shawn is as good as ever.

Favorite Quotes -

Dutch: Hey, what’s the most dangerous thing you boys done?
Shawn: We eat at Taco John’s with some frequency, so that puts us right there on the edge.

Dutch: Ain’t nobody tellin’ me I can’t do anything no more.
Gus: (to Shawn) I think that was the worst English I’ve ever heard.

Shawn: We ignore the tiny voice in our head that tells us not to do stuff.
Gus: The tiny voice in my head says there’s a reason I’m the only black person here.

Shawn: Gus, don’t be an old sponge with hair hanging off of it. I’m all over this case.
Gus: “Mimed to death.”
Shawn: That’s clearly a typo. They meant maimed. What are we, gonna be killed by Marcel Marceau?
Gus: Marcel Marceau is dead.
Shawn: See, there’s nothing to worry about.

Rating - 4/5 Stars

Good episode, above average. The character Dutch is very likable and full of many endearing qualities, the actor just really drove it home, and made the character real to me. Recommended.
